The Fairy Fair and The Real Halloween

What Were They?

The Fairy Fair and The Real Halloween were beloved seasonal events organised by the Fairyland Trust for nearly 24 years before concluding in 2024. These events reached thousands of families and children in Norfolk and across the country. Many families returned year after year, passing down their love of nature to the next generation and creating lasting traditions. The events featured a wide array of workshops and activities designed and led by the Fairyland Trust, supported by dedicated volunteers. Alongside music, games, and entertainment, visitors had the chance to learn about nature in a fun and engaging way. Though these events have ended, their legacy continues through the Fairyland Trust’s ongoing mission—to inspire a deep connection with nature through craft, play, theatre, folklore and magic.

What People Say

“You have created an Organic Disney”.

“Local, small, eco-friendly, non-corporate events run by people who love what they do, making sure everyone enjoys themselves, whilst educating about the wonderful natural world are rare and need to be treasured.”

“I came from hours away, first time and will come again. My daughter and I came away rejuvenated. She actually learned something in the very modestly priced workshops you had and wasn’t just handed a plastic toy. Real knowledge of nature, and the imagination can just run wild.”

“Do we have to go back to England now?” Child leaving an event

Why Did They stop?

In short, the Fairyland Trust is a small charity which relies on supporters to cover core costs, which the events did not. The true cost of our workshops alone is at least twice what is charged as the charity wanted to keep things affordable to reach the maximum number of families with nature. Supporters are what keeps the charity able to still deliver workshops to this day.

Moreover, the founders, Sarah and Chris had been running the events for 24 years and reached a time when they needed to retire from those roles.

What now?

These days the charity aims to teach nature to all age groups, and focuses on bringing workshops to other events across the country, from festivals to small country fairs and more.

Help us Keep Going

We are a tiny charity relying solely on donations. We don’t qualify for grants and due to our theatrical and decorative education style using sustainable, quality materials, our work is expensive! Would you like to help us?  The very best thing is to become a Supporter for as little as £3 a month but we also need volunteers to help with fundraising, recruitment, promotion and practical work. If you are interested please get in touch. Can’t become a supporter? Follow us on social media and help our work by engaging with us online.
