Fairy Fair, May 2010

Fun, magic and nature comes to Holt Hall this spring as our renowned full-scale Fairy Fair makes a return.

The Fair will feature nine of our magical children's workshops including: Magic Wands, Wings & Potions, Fairy Gardens, Crowns & Books, Wizard Shields, Wildflower Fairies and Witches' Pets.

Other activities include, Post office, Storytelling, Pirate Fete, Trails to the Fairy Queen, Secret Dens, Fairy Houses, Cooking with Trolls, Live Music from Swervy World and The Rum Brothers, Puppet shows, Stilt Walkers plus Craft and Food stalls and much more.

All of the activities take place either within one of the our beautiful medieval tents or outside in the woods. Children are encouraged to dress up if they like. Parents or carers need to be present.

Advanced bookings advisable for entry and workshops Children £4.50, Adults £6.50, (on the gate £5/£7.50) Under 3's Free. Workshop prices £4 or £5.Tickets are on sale from 1st March. We will send out more information and a reminder via our newsletter update (you can sign up here).

2010 Fairy Fair programme

There will be lots more going on around the site too including storytelling sessions and some fantastic walkabout acts such as stilt walking fairies, a dragon -riding fairy and our very own trolls.

  • 10am Fair opens
  • 10.30am to 11pm Widdishins Theatre (1st show)
  • 11am to 12am Mr Pineapple Head
  • 12pm to 12.30pm Widdishins Theatre (2nd show)
  • 12.30pm to 1.30pm Swervy World
  • 1pm to 2pm Cooking for Trolls (outside)
  • 1.30pm to 2.30pm Rum Brothers
  • 2.30pm to 3pm Widdishins Theatre (3rd show)
  • 3pm to 4pm Mr Pineapple Head
  • 4pm to 5pm Storytelling with Magpie
  • 5pm to Fair closes

On top of this Wylde Noyse will be keeping the Maypole twirling and you can drop in any time to make a Secret Den or Fairy House in the woods, or go on trail to find the Fairy Queen. All for free.

Plus there will be small charge to take part in the Pirate Fete games, make some Bug Bling in the walled garden, get your face painted, have a go at archery, make a message to hang in our giant message tree, as well as sending a card from our unique Pixie Post.

AND there will be craft stalls, catering and the Drunken Monk beer tent.

Spare workshop spaces will be sold on the day, first come, first served basis.

Sorry, no dogs to be brought on site whatsoever, with the exception of guide dogs.
