LATEST EVENTS - The Spring Fairy Fair - Narborough Hall, Norfolk, May 29/30

It was a record-breaking event for the Fairyland Trust with nearly 5000 visitors.

Families said the things most remembered were information along the magical trail leading through the woods to the Fairy Queen and the folklore of the wildflowers in the Fairy Gardening yurt. Many visitors had a memorable experience with Druid Des and Faerie Sam in their magical ogham circle ... while across the clearing a small man in tweed with a radiant floral helper held court in the wand making workshop. Most people said they loved the overall atmosphere, which owed a lot to the generous help and hospitality of Jo Merrison and Robert Sandelson, the imaginative owners of Narborough Hall. It was also helped by the presence of the unexcavated and mysterious iron age 'henge' underlying the woodland, the ancient parkland trees and meandering River Nar.

We also held our first-ever Fairy Float Race, helped by Trolls and a Mermaid. The Pixie Post, dragon-making and crafts tent also did roaring business, as did the Fairy Cafe. Flo the dragon has moved on to the next magical venue after her triumphal progress. The Fairy Queens have gone to straighten their hair and check their spellbooks.

We laid on 1000 workshop places each day - the maximum we could manage given the size of our tents and gazebos - but we still sold out. A few people were wrong-footed by a listing in Kids Direct (a Cambridge magazine). This wasn't us - we sent them the right info' but they unfortunately didn't make changes from last year's listing !
