Luton Hoo, Hertfordshire
Account by Dena Bryant I was in the garden pulling up some marigolds
that had seeded themselves amongst the roses when suddenly right
by my hand I saw a little man dressed in brown, I wondered what
on earth it was initially - it was obviously not an animal. He had
a brown leathery face and he just looked up at me appealingly and
I quickly put the flowers back so as not to disturb him. He had
brown eyes with long dark eyelashes and stood about 18inches high.
I felt I'd disturbed the keeper of my garden, and from then on I
left the marigolds. Dena has also had encounters with ghosts (as
documented in 'True Ghost Stories' publ. by Hamilton) and she says
"I don't believe in ghosts but they believe in me".

Account
by N.H. I was at Stonehenge for the solstice during early 1980s
and I was lying in the middle of a field just outside a ring of
people sat round a fire. Night was just beginning to lighten into
the twilight before dawn when I suddenly saw fairies on the blades
of grass overhanging my head. They were about the size of my thumb
and perfectly formed little people with wings, they didn't acknowledge
me but they were aware of me watching them, it was almost as if
they were performing for my benefit - climbing and swinging from
bending blades of grass, flying around so weightlessly..

The
next day they called to me again around 5:00 pm and I went outside
and let my dog lead me as I know animals can sense and see spirits.
My dog led me directly to the wild section of the rose garden where
she lay immediately down and "watched" them for a full 5 minutes,
swinging her head this way and that. My eyes began to tear. I couldn't
believe what I was witnessing. They seemed to be about 3-5 feet
in front of her, and she watched them intently, full attention on
them, very still and attentive, then they'd fly up in the air this
way and that and she'd swing her head to follow them never taking
her eyes off them.
I say "them" because I saw hundreds of their white lights the evening
before. She lay real still as if she was listening to them. Then
she tucked her head to her chest when one actually came up and touched
her. I couldn't believe it. I noticed the one came up close and
touched her right when I was petting my dog and loving her. This
whole time I couldn't actually SEE them though I looked real hard.
I have to admit it scared me a little when the one touched her.
But I sensed it was loving her. My dog is the sweetest little border
collie mix - black, white and tan with big freckles and bunny soft
fur. He name is Ladybug, quite fitting.
Then I saw the grass blades moving six inches in front of my dog,
though no bugs or anything were there, and I knew for certain it
was fairies. This all happened in the wild section of garden (rhodies,
lasal, ferns) adjoining the rose garden. I asked what they wanted
planted in the flower pot sitting there and was told daffodils,
then turnips. I definitely believe in fairies now that I've witnessed
this first hand. I hate to say I used to doubt their existence.
I feel horrible now that I doubted.
That night I peeked out the window but didn't see any white lights
in the garden, but when I went to bed I saw for a split instant
a green winged fairy at the foot of my bed about 7 inches long by
4 inches high. It was such a strange green. I'm an artist and I
can't say I've ever seen that particular green before. I saw only
the outline of a body. It was all wings. Of note, I had never paid
much attention to birds until this winter, when I started noticing
them and talking to them and now they come up to me quite close.
Our yard is full of birdsong, yet the neighbors are quiet. In fact,
when I go outside, I feel surrounded by birds anymore. Then the
fairy thing. Quite something. To remember the fairies so I never
forget, I took a piece of driftwood and painted: "Mist clad in the
light of the moon star spun seekers I search for thee! Faery light
- I ask they boon" to commemorate my first sighting of their white
lights. I placed it in the section of the garden where my dog lay.
These episodes are definitely going into the book I'm writing and
I hope to catch a better glimpse of a fairy so I can paint her in
watercolor.
Washington State
Just
recently (May 2002) I saw my first fairies. I am 37 years old. It
was about 10:00pm and I had gone to bed and was laying there unable
to sleep and wishing from the bottom of my heart, "If only fairies
lived in my garden." It was kind of a silly thing to think. I guess
I was thinking it because I love the garden, had been working in
it that day amongst the tulips, and it just seemed like fairies
belong there. No sooner had I had the thought then something told
me in my head to look in the rose garden. I've learned to listen
to this sixth sense, as more and more psychic/spiritual things have
been happening in the last 3 1/2 years. Still, I couldn't quite
bring myself to climb out of bed to look. It seemed silly. Finally,
I did so. I walked into the dining room overlooking my rose garden
and peered out the window into the night. I stared but saw nothing.
Just as I was about to give up, I saw out of the corner of my eye
a tiny white light in the left bottom of the rose garden near the
lupines. Then I saw another and another. Looking straight on, I
saw hundreds of tiny white lights blinking all over my rose garden.
The garden was full of tiny white lights! I watched for awhile and
the lights kept glittering, then I turned away from the window and
went to bed.
Climbing back into bed, tears in my eyes, I was filled with the
unearthly all enveloping peace and love feeling I get when I feel
close to God and that tingle of energy running up the back of my
head. I thank God every time I receive such a gift because it makes
my heart and soul swell with love. I didn't tell my husband because
I didn't know what he'd think. So many things have happened to me
in the past three years that this was not out of the ordinary. Three
days later I told my husband, with tears in my eyes, that I'd seen
fairies in the rose garden. He smiled and told me, "I see things
in the wind." I asked him, "What do you mean?" He said he sees tiny
cylinders in the wind sometimes.
My husband and I are very close, and being able to tell him about
my "happenings" and actually talk about them with someone to whom
they also occur makes me feel truly blessed. I believe the fae came
because of the great amount of love in that garden. It thrums with
birdsong, the puppies play in it, and everyone who visits enjoys
it and proclaims, "What a happy garden!" I don't know much about
fairies, but this January I learned my soul name in a dream/astral
visit. Upon looking up the name on the internet, I learned that
the name belongs to a Welsh moon goddess who is Queen of the Fae.
Coincidence? I've always had a strong affinity with mermaids, and
some to fairies too. I have been documenting these "spiritual happenings"
for 3 1/2 years and am writing a book. Having seen the fairies and
wondering about others who have seen them led me to this web site.
I have done something right to bring fairies to the garden. I only
hope I can keep them happy and safe. Love for the plants and creatures
that reside there and care for their wellbeing I believe is the
key. I will not be using chemical fertilizers on the roses ever
again.
