Our Plans For Fairyland

Once upon a time, all our countryside was an enchanted landscape. Now 98% of our wildflower meadows are lost and many children grow up without experiencing the magic of nature except through tv. Our plans for a real Fairyland could help change that.

We hope to find a place to make a permanent magical landscape where children and families can encounter and explore nature. We aim to amplify and reveal its natural magic with witches kitchens, sensory boardwalks, and specially designed natural looking buildings - some earth sheltered and others with shingle roofs - to provide year-round shelter for story-telling, creating animal shields and animal lanterns, making fairy jewellery (designs modelled on beetle wing cases), producing fairy wings and a host of other activities.

As visitors to Fairy Fairs will know, every Fairyland Trust activity - from making wildflower gardens to magic wands, fairy crowns and dens in the woods - has an element of learning about nature and natural history built into it. But for the children and their listening parents it doesn't seem like education but a fun day out in a beautiful place. If we are able to find a permanent site, we will be able to expand such activities and operate the year round.

Fairyland will not be without its essential facilities: a new café, a meeting room, toilets and washrooms. A welcome building will incorporate a seasonally refreshed display of regional and British wildlife, its folklore and heritage, while also including office space for the charity's HQ and signposting other conservation projects to visit in the region.

Construction, energy and materials will all be visibly sustainable. Parents, grandparents and children will have the possibility for incidental learning about environmental and social sustainability through experiencing how Fairyland works.

A mixture of charitable and commercial activities will enable the site to ultimately become self-financing.

If you believe in conservation, become a Founder and get involved in supporting this unique project.

With your help, Britain's first Fairyland could make dreams come true, and make that Fairy Fair magic last forever.

Please become a Fairyland Founder today. As well as providing vital funds, you will receive a free magic wand, and invitations to special Founders Events.
